Proceeds support the John J. Byrne Community Center of Uniondale's programs and services for the children and families of the region! Arthur M. Katz is president of Knockout Pest Control in Uniondale which he founded in 1975, and which serves the New York metropolitan area. He is an expert in termite, rodent, bird, carpenter ant and bee/wasp control. Mr. Katz is a member of the Dow AgroSciences Advisory Committee for Sentricon. He is past president of the New York State Pest Management Association and is a past board member of the National Pest Management Association. Most recently, Knockout donated over $20,000 worth of termite prevention and protection to Nassau County’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums for use at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. Mr. Katz is past chair person of the Long Island Cabinet of UJA-Federation of New York and the current Synagogue Task Force Chairperson. He was formerly a co-chair of the Long Island Program Services Cabinet. Arthur is currently a member of UJA-Federation’s Board of Directors. From 1990-1993, he was president of United Jewish Y’s of Long Island and has served as its chairman of the board as well as chairman of the Jewish Arts Festival. In August 2001, Mr. Katz was appointed Vice-Chairman Long Island Division for the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA). He is also a founding member of LIREG (The Long Island Real Estate Group). LIREG was formed in 2004 to encourage networking between Long Island Real Estate Developers, owners and the allied trades, and to raise funds for charitable real estate projects on Long Island. In the summer of 2005, Mr. Katz was appointed to the Board of the Nassau Conservancy. The Conservancy’s mission is to spearhead a countywide effort to restore gardens, historic buildings and promote cultural activities for current and future generations. In January 2007 Katz organized with partners Gary Shapiro and Daniel Krimmer, the Jewish Advisory Network for Security on Long Island. JANSLI’s goals include the creation of a homeland communications network for the Long Island Jewish community. In June 2008 Katz was selected as a Chairman for Vistage International. In November 2008 Katz was asked by community leaders to re-start the Uniondale Chamber of Commerce which has been dormant for a decade. He was elected it’s first President. Mr.Katz lives in Jericho, N.Y. with his wife, Barbara, and has two adult daughters, Sara, and Stephanie. He is a past president of Temple Or-Elohim in Jericho. In addition he is a member of the Tam O’Shanter Club. The inaugural OUTSTANDING ADVOCATES FOR CHILDREN & YOUTH AWARDS COCKTAIL RECEPTION took place on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, 6pm to 8pm, at The Omni, 333 Earle Ovington Boulevard, Uniondale.
